2014 BMW i3 Moves Us Closer To Autonomous Driving In Cities
Driving is often a pain, particularly in dense, congested urban cores.Start and stop, brake suddenly, stay carefully in your lane, drive defensively, then park in tight spaces.
What if the car could do all that for you?
Last week, BMW showed off its new BMW i3 Concept, which points the way toward the 2014 BMW i3 battery-electric car that it will put on sale in late 2013.The i3 may have the highest degree of autonomous driving we've yet seen--though no one present at the event actually drove the cars, so for the moment, all we have to go on is BMW's description of the 'visionary mobility services' it plans to offer on the car.BMW says the i3 Concept is 'designed for stress-free driving around town.' With no gears to shift and all-electric drive, it will be smooth, quiet, and torquey, that's a given. But several of the driver assistance systems it plans for the car are as advanced as anything offered by any manufacturer, and one is novel indeed, something no other maker has provided so far.

BMW INTRODUCES US TO POUCAN, LUFFALO & ZORSE
This week, BMW has started a new ad campaign themed 'that's not natural.'
The folks in the ad department put on their biology hats and invented three new creatures: the poucan, a penguin/toucan hybrid, the luffalo, a lion crossed with a cape buffalo, and the zorse. Which is a zebra/horse. Yep.

With the BMW Fleet program, companies operating five or more vehicles are entitled to generous benefits when purchasing or leasing their executive's vehicles. Our BMW Fleet program is designed to address the needs of companies who are seeking executive transportation. To qualify your company must have five vehicles owned and operated in the company name and have a corporate BMW fleet account number. BMW fleet pricing can also be extended to those commercial customers buying three or more business use vehicles at one time.
VIPs, executives and upper level management whose company offers five or more car allowances can also take advantage of the BMW Fleet program. attended the Moxie's annual golf tournament. This exciting event took place at Firerock Golf course on Monday, July 25th.
BMW London offered a SPA Package to all golfers. This included a roof to rim clean of your vehicle, all finished during the time you were golfing. After a day full of goodtimes, you got to drive home in an immaculate vehicle.

GM Pilot Project: Parents Can Track Teen Drivers In Real Time
Parents will be able to track the real-time location of their teenagers when they are driving, under a pilot program unveiled by General Motors Co.'s OnStar unit.
The service will give family members the Management Briefing Seminars here. 'What parent hasn't asked their teenaged driver to call or send a text when they arrive somewhere, only to not ability to track the location of others by logging on to a GM website to view a map with the vehicle's exact location at any time or by getting text messages or email alerts.
'Our subscribers have asked us for a solution to help them stay connected to their family when they're on the road,' said OnStar President Linda Marshall in announcing the project at the Center for Automotive Research hear from them?'

Introducing The All New
'After going ever-larger with the Clubman and then Countryman, Mini has turned in the opposite direction - downsizing, if you will - with the newest model in its stable, the Mini Coupe.'
Although a two-door Mini is nothing new, the Coupe is the first two-seater in the brand's line-up. It also has a sporty-looking silhouette thanks to the "helmet" roof as well as another Mini first - an active rear spoiler that extends automatically at 80 km/h.
Mini is planning four versions - three gasoline versions that will be available in Canada, and a diesel for markets such as Europe. On the dealership menu in Canada are the Cooper Coupe, Cooper S Coupe and John Cooper Works Coupe. The four-cylinder engines Mini is touting for each, respectively, are a 1.6-litre putting out 121-horsepower and 118 lb.-ft. of torque, a 1.6-litre turbo (181 hp/177 lb.-ft.) and a 1.6-litre with twin-scroll turbo (208/184). The diesel Cooper SD Coupe is powered by a 2.0-litre turbodiesel (143/ 225).
