2012 BMW 6 Series Lineup Adds xDrive All-Wheel-Drive Option
BMW LONDON

BMW has just quietly announced that its 2012 6 Series lineup is now available with all-wheel drive. BMW’s xDrive system will be available on both 650i coupes and convertibles, according to BMW’s consumer website.
Without much fanfare, the all-wheel drive option seemed to magically appear overnight on BMW’s U.S. website. BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive system will be available for a mere $3000 on top of the 6 Series Coupe’s starting price of $83,000, and the convertible’s starting price of $90,500.
BMW’s decision to offer all-wheel drive on one of its sportier models makes sense when you think about it. Audi currently offers all-wheel drive on all of its models — including the similar A5 coupe and cabriolet — so it would be smart of BMW to spread its all-wheel drive system throughout the model range.
Whatever BMW’s reason, we’re not about to complain when a 400-horsepower all-wheel-drive convertible is on the table.
